A Space Created for Quiet Consideration

Stillmoor was founded on the belief that the years before retirement deserve more than checklists — they deserve conversation, reading, and reflection.

Our Story

How Stillmoor Came to Be

Stillmoor was established in Kuala Lumpur in 2018 by a group of educators and facilitators who had spent years working in adult learning. What they noticed, speaking with professionals in their fifties, was a recurring gap: plenty of information existed about pensions and EPF, but very little space existed for the broader conversation — about identity, purpose, household dynamics, and what a good later life might actually look like.

The name comes from a quiet corner of a garden — the part that is kept still on purpose, where things are allowed to settle. That metaphor shapes everything we do. Our programmes are not urgent or prescriptive. They invite you to sit with questions rather than rush to answers.

We do not sell financial products. We are not affiliated with any brokerage, insurance house, or investment platform. Stillmoor exists solely to provide thoughtful educational space for adults who are beginning to think seriously about the decade ahead.

Founded 2018

Established in Kuala Lumpur by adult educators with a background in facilitated learning and community programming.

Over 340 Participants

Adults from across the Klang Valley have attended our programmes since the first cohort in early 2019.

Independent & Unaffiliated

No financial products. No referral arrangements. No conflict of interest between our content and your decisions.

What We Stand For

Our Values

These are not aspirational statements on a wall. They are the practical commitments that shape how we design and deliver every programme.

Honest about what we are

We are educators, not advisers. We are clear about this boundary in every programme and every conversation.

Conversation over instruction

Our facilitators ask questions more often than they provide answers. The room learns from itself as much as from the curriculum.

Unhurried by design

We do not rush participants toward decisions. The programmes are paced to allow ideas to settle before being acted upon.

Grounded in Malaysia

We work from the Malaysian context — EPF, cultural expectations around family, cost of living in the Klang Valley — rather than imported frameworks.

Privacy respected

Participants share personal reflections in group settings. We hold confidentiality as a non-negotiable condition of our facilitation practice.

Evidence-based reading

Programme materials are drawn from published research, institutional reports, and recognised non-fiction — not from marketing collateral.

Our Standards & Commitments

Facilitator Credentials

All Stillmoor facilitators hold recognised qualifications in adult education or a related field and participate in ongoing professional development.

Participant Confidentiality

Group discussions are held under a participant agreement that establishes shared confidentiality expectations from the first session.

Annual Curriculum Review

Programme content is reviewed annually against current published research and participant feedback to ensure it remains relevant and accurate.

Data Protection

Participant information is held in accordance with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010. We do not share data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Accessibility Considerations

Venue selection, programme pacing, and printed materials are all designed to be accessible to adults with a range of physical and sensory needs.

Participant Feedback

Every programme closes with a structured feedback session. Results are reviewed internally and inform the next scheduling cycle.

Pre-Retirement Education in Malaysia

The years approaching retirement are among the most consequential in adult life — not because of the numbers, but because of the questions that accompany them. What will daily life look like? How will relationships change? What brings meaning when a career no longer defines the week? These are questions that benefit from careful, honest conversation, and that is precisely what Stillmoor offers.

Stillmoor operates from Kuala Lumpur and draws participants primarily from across the Klang Valley, though adults from Penang, Johor Bahru, and Kota Kinabalu have attended our longer programmes. Our facilitators understand the particular pressures of the Malaysian pre-retirement context: multigenerational households, the nuances of EPF drawdown decisions, and cultural expectations around family roles in later life.

We are not the right fit for everyone, and we say so openly. If you are looking for specific investment advice or a structured financial plan, a licensed financial planner is what you need. If you are looking for a thoughtful place to begin the broader conversation — with peers who are navigating the same territory — Stillmoor may be what you are looking for.

Curious Whether Stillmoor Is Right for You?

We are happy to have an initial conversation — no forms, no pressure, just a straightforward exchange about what you are looking for and whether our programmes are a match.
